Specialty Single-Layer
Double Access &
Back Bared Flex
Single conductor layer flexible circuits with access to conductor features from both sides — enabling unique interconnection schemes without double-sided PTH construction.
Double access flex, also known as back bared or reverse bared flex, are flexible circuits having a single conductor layer processed to allow access to selected conductor features from both sides of the circuit.
Standard single-sided flex allows connections from one face only. Double access circuits use specialized processing to remove the base film at selected locations on the back side, exposing the back face of copper conductors at those specific locations while maintaining single-layer construction.
While this construction offers unique benefits — conductor access from either face without full double-sided PTH construction — the specialized processing limits practical application to specific designs where this feature provides meaningful value.
