Georgia Rule is a comedy-drama starring Jane Fonda, Lindsay Lohan, and Felicity Huffman and directed by legendary filmmaker Garry Marshall. The film tells the story of a rebellious teenager, Rachel (Lohan), who is sent by her frustrated mother (Huffman) to spend the summer in Idaho with her strict grandmother, Georgia (Fonda). The Racquet Club is holding a Village-Wide OPEN HOUSE event on Saturday, June 13 at the courts from 9 AM – Noon. It is a Thank You to the Village for providing us the courts for our enjoyment, exercise and friendships. It is also a chance for any Leisure Village resident to learn a bit about the three sports the Club supports – Pickleball, Tennis and Paddle Tennis.

PLAYERS GUILD – THURSDAY, JUNE 18
Players Guild veteran Judie McAskill directs the Players Guild show on Thursday, June 18 at 7 PM in the Assembly Room(AR). Judie directed three annual plays for the Culver City Senior Center before moving to Leisure Village. The cast includes accomplished Players Guild actors and two new thespians, Diane OโNeil and Amy Ticho. This monthโs workshop features comedic scenes and monologues, including โDear John to Santa Claus; Mrs. Claus has a new man now!โ and โUp and Down,โ about what happens when the toilet seat is left up.
Dorene and Lewis Blair are holding auditions for their show, โSongs That Tell a Story,โ on Thursday, June 4 at 7 PM in the AR. The show features original songs woven into a script with colorful and memorable characters. Non-singers are encouraged to audition. Memorization isnโt required, so come prepared to sing any song not in the show. The script includes โCopacabana,โ โOde to Billy Joe,โ โHarper Valley PTA,โ โThe MTA Song,โ โCat in the Cradle,โ โTaxi,โ โOperator,โ โThe Gambler,โ โThe Nights the Lights Went out in Georgia,โ and โPiece by Piece.โ The show will be directed by the Blairs. One of the Billiard Clubโs favorite events is in June. Itโs the Picnic-in-the-Park on Saturday, June 20 at Noon. Tickets are $15. Also, there is a 9-ball tournament scheduled in early July (6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14 and 16). Sign up begins June 18. Drop by the Billiard room for the Wednesday afternoon league and/or for the Thursday Night Round Robin or anytime you feel like it. There may be a party around the fire pit on the back patio.
