LVโ€™s BOARD OF DIRECTORS OPEN BOARD MEETING โ€“ MONDAY, JUNE 8

Please join the Board of Directors for the Monthly Open Board Meeting to be held on Monday, June 8, beginning at 10 AM in the Assembly Room (AR). The meeting will be televised live by LVTV, Channel 1390; residents can attend in person. If youโ€™d like to stream the meeting on YouTube, look for meeting announcement in your email and click on the link. The Board meeting agenda is available in the FrontSteps Resident Portal.

NAVIGATING FRONTSTEPS TRAINING SESSION – TUESDAY, JUNE 9

The Education and Recreation Committeeโ€™s Communications Team will hold another session to help Villagers learn how to navigate FrontSteps. Itโ€™s on Tuesday, June 9 at 1:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room (MPR). To register, send an email with your name, address and telephone number to lvcommunicationscomm@gmail.com. No need to bring your devices, as this will be a presentation and Q&A session. Just bring a pen to take notes, all your questions, and a willingness to learn. These sessions are limited to 45 people, so register early.

CITY COUNCILMAN TONY TREMBLEY’S MONTHLY OUTREACH MEETING – TUESDAY, JUNE 16

The regular outreach meeting led by Camarillo City Councilman Tony Trembley will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at 2:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room (MPR). Residents can attend, and LVTV Channel 1390 will televise the event live. Councilman Trembley will share information on important city issues. Questions can be submitted to townhall@leisurevillage.org.

LVA’S ELECTION OF TWO MEMBERS TO THE LV BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The election of two candidates to LVAโ€™s Board of Directors concludes on Thursday, June 25 at the LV Annual Meeting, beginning at 2:30 PM in the Assembly Room (AR). Prior to the meeting you can deposit your ballot in one of the ballot boxes located in the Community Center Lobby or at the Association Office, any time before 2 PM on Thursday, June 25. After that, your last opportunity to vote will be in person during the Annual Meeting at 2:30 PM. The meeting will reconvene at 5:30 PM to announce the newly seated directors after all votes are counted.

LV MOVIE NIGHT – MONDAY, JUNE 1 and JUNE 15

Uncle Nino – Monday, June 1 at 7 PM in the Assembly Room (AR). Enjoy the heartwarming film Uncle Nino, starring Joe Montegna and Anne Archer. Overworked executive Robert Micelli has little time for his family, which has become disconnected from one another. When Robertโ€™s long-lost Uncle Nino unexpectedly arrives from Italy for a visit, his simple, old-fashioned ways help the Micellis rediscover the joy of La Famiglia. Rated PG Runtime – 110 minutes.

Georgia Rule – Monday, June 15 at 7 PM in the Assembly Room (AR). Georgia Rule is a comedy-drama starring Jane Fonda, Lindsay Lohan, and Felicity Huffman and directed by legendary filmmaker Garry Marshall. The film tells the story of a rebellious teenager, Rachel (Lohan), who is sent by her frustrated mother (Huffman) to spend the summer in Idaho with her strict grandmother, Georgia (Fonda). As family secrets emerge, the three generations must navigate healing, forgiveness, and redemption. Please be aware: This movie is rated R. Runtime: 1 hour 53 minutes

VILLAGE ARTS – WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3

Our annual Potluck Picnic in the Pavilion will be Wednesday, June 3 at noon. This event will take the place of our usual monthly meeting. All Village Arts members are invited to attend with a guest. LV WOMENโ€™S GOLF – WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10

Thank you to all who came out to support our successful Spring Cleaning Sale on May 16th!
Stay tuned for the results of the Club Championship played in May. Womenโ€™s Golf is meeting on Wednesday, June 10 in the Garden Room. Come at 1:30 PM for social and snacks. Take a chance on the 50/50 draw for $1 or $5. Business starts at 2 PM. Wednesday, June 24, which is the fourth Wednesday of the month, means a special event – Nine and Wine at 4 PM with a shotgun start and get together afterwards. There will be Open Play that morning. Regular Wednesday check-in time is 7:30 AM, first group tees off at 8 AM. Please bring $2 exact change.

LV RACQUET CLUB โ€“ SATURDAY, JUNE 13

The Racquet Club is holding a Village-Wide OPEN HOUSE event on Saturday, June 13 at the courts from 9 AM – Noon. It is a Thank You to the Village for providing us the courts for our enjoyment, exercise and friendships. It is also a chance for any Leisure Village resident to learn a bit about the three sports the Club supports – Pickleball, Tennis and Paddle Tennis.

The latest Reserved Court Times for the Paddle Tennis and Pickleball courts are always posted on the Court Bulletin Board and at https://sites.google.com/view/leisurevillageracquetclub/court-schedule.

MUSIC CLUB SPECIAL EVENT – SUNDAY, JUNE 14

The LV Music Club proudly presents the Music of Neil Diamond on Sunday, June 14 at 2 PM in the Assembly Room (AR). This is one performance you truly wonโ€™t want to miss. Neil Diamondโ€™s unforgettable music comes alive as Kenny Hale and his exceptional band deliver an energetic and authentic concert experience. From the first note to the last, it promises to be an afternoon filled with wonderful music, great memories, and plenty of sing-along moments. There are still some tickets available. PLAYERS GUILD – THURSDAY, JUNE 18

Players Guild veteran Judie McAskill directs the Players Guild show on Thursday, June 18 at 7 PM in the Assembly Room(AR). Judie directed three annual plays for the Culver City Senior Center before moving to Leisure Village. The cast includes accomplished Players Guild actors and two new thespians, Diane Oโ€™Neil and Amy Ticho. This monthโ€™s workshop features comedic scenes and monologues, including โ€œDear John to Santa Claus; Mrs. Claus has a new man now!โ€ and โ€œUp and Down,โ€ about what happens when the toilet seat is left up.

Dorene and Lewis Blair are holding auditions for their show, โ€œSongs That Tell a Story,โ€ on Thursday, June 4 at 7 PM in the AR. The show features original songs woven into a script with colorful and memorable characters. Non-singers are encouraged to audition. Memorization isnโ€™t required, so come prepared to sing any song not in the show. The script includes โ€œCopacabana,โ€ โ€œOde to Billy Joe,โ€ โ€œHarper Valley PTA,โ€ โ€œThe MTA Song,โ€ โ€œCat in the Cradle,โ€ โ€œTaxi,โ€ โ€œOperator,โ€ โ€œThe Gambler,โ€ โ€œThe Nights the Lights Went out in Georgia,โ€ and โ€œPiece by Piece.โ€ The show will be directed by the Blairs. Remember that your annual Players Guild membership of $10 means you see nine workshops throughout the year for free. You cannot participate on stage without the membership. The annual April โ€œbig showโ€ cost $15 this year. All workshops are the third Thursday of each month (except May and December). Since our holiday show includes a dinner, there is a charge.

GRAPES R US โ€“ FRIDAY, JUNE 19

With a nod to Fathersโ€™ Day, our June 19 tasting will be themed โ€œFather and Son Winemakers.โ€ Itโ€™s an intriguing idea to be presented by Harold Howarth. We look forward to seeing you there. Our club tasting sessions are usually held on the third Friday of the month, in the AR. The doors open at 6:30 PM, so come early to get a table before the prompt 7 PM start. BILLIARD CLUB – SATURDAY, JUNE 20

One of the Billiard Clubโ€™s favorite events is in June. Itโ€™s the Picnic-in-the-Park on Saturday, June 20 at Noon. Tickets are $15. Also, there is a 9-ball tournament scheduled in early July (6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14 and 16). Sign up begins June 18. Drop by the Billiard room for the Wednesday afternoon league and/or for the Thursday Night Round Robin or anytime you feel like it. There may be a party around the fire pit on the back patio. There is still a need for coordinators to oversee the Social Round Robin night. Contact Kathy Wirtz 818-445-1057 for membership and/or dues. You must be a Billiard Club member to play in the tournaments. The billiards room is open every day till 10 PM. Feel free to drop by and play or just visit.

LETโ€™S DANCE- SATURDAY, JUNE 20

For June weโ€™ll be rock and roll dancing and listening to Dave the Piano Man. Admission to Letโ€™s Dance is just $10 per person. A 50/50 is also offered. The dance is on Saturday, June 20, the third Saturday in the Assembly Room (AR). Dancing will be from 7-10 PM. A 50/50 drawing is also offered. Coffee, water, and punch will be provided as well as dancing the night away. You may bring your own refreshments.

MAVERICKS โ€“ FRIDAY, JUNE 26

This Month Mavericks Club is sponsoring a delicious pizza party in the Pavillion on Friday, June 26 from 5 – 9 PM. This year we are featuring mouthwatering pizza from Toppers! A variety of pizzas along with a salad will be served at 5:30 PM. Yummy cookies for dessert. Come and dance to the music of the ever popular DJ Muevelo.
