YEA OLDE CRAFT FAIRE โ€“ SUNDAY, MAY 3

The annual Arts and Crafts fundraiser is here again. The creativity and artistic skills of Villagers will be available in the Assembly Room (AR) from 10 AM to 3 PM on Sunday, May 3. Sponsored by the Stoners, the faire features the original work and designs by members of the Ceramics Club, Village Arts, as well as The Stoners Jewelry and Craft Groups. Coffee and sweets will be served in the morning. At 11:30 AM hot dogs and chili will be available for a donation.

LVโ€™s BOARD OF DIRECTORS OPEN BOARD MEETING โ€“ MONDAY, MAY 11

Please join the Board of Directors for the Monthly Open Board Meeting to be held on Monday, May 11, beginning at 10 AM in the Assembly Room (AR). The meeting will be televised live by LVTV, Channel 1390; residents can attend in person. NAVIGATING FRONTSTEPS TRAINING SESSION โ€“ TUESDAY, MAY 12

The Education and Recreation Committeeโ€™s Communications Team will hold another session to help Villagers learn how to navigate FrontSteps. Itโ€™s on Tuesday, May 12 at 1:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room (MPR). To register, send an email with your name, address and telephone number to lvcommunicationscomm@gmail.com. No need to bring your devices, as this will be a presentation and Q&A session. Just bring a pen to take notes, all your questions, and a willingness to learn. These sessions are limited to 45 people, so register early.

During the month of May there will be several opportunities to meet, greet and ask questions of the Board candidates running for the two open seats. LV’S SPRING CLEANING SALE โ€“ SATURDAY, MAY 16

Itโ€™s time for the ever popular Spring Cleaning Sale fundraiser sponsored by the Womenโ€™s Golf Club. On Saturday, May 16 LV clubs, groups and individuals will be selling crafts and other items in the Pavilion and Picnic area from 9 AM to 2 PM. Beverages will be provided, plus there will be a bake sale.

CITY COUNCILMAN TONY TREMBLEY’S MONTHLY OUTREACH MEETING โ€“ TUESDAY, MAY 19

The regular outreach meeting led by Camarillo City Councilman Tony Trembley will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at 2:30 PM in the AR. Residents can attend, and LVTV, Channel 1390, will televise the event live. The guest speaker will be Camarillo Police Chief Eric Tennessen, who will discuss the current local safety and crime information for the City. Following his presentation, Councilman Trembley will share information on important city issues. Questions can be submitted at townhall@leisurevillage.org.

CANDIDATES NIGHT โ€“ THURSDAY, MAY 28

Six Villagers are candidates for the two positions on LVA’s Board of Directors in the upcoming election in June. On Thursday, May 28, beginning at 5 PM in the AR they will participate in a live Candidates Forum. Residents can submit questions for them in person and by email at townhall@lesiurevillage.org. The forum will be televised live on LVTV, Channel 1390, and residents are encouraged to attend in person. VILLAGE ARTS โ€“ WEDNESDAY, MAY 6

Our May 6 meeting will be held in the MPR at 1 PM. This meeting will feature Art and Poetry. Ron Fullerton and his poetry group will be presenting poetry inspired by our own Village Arts members. They chose four paintings from our April Camarillo Art Center gallery show and wrote poetry based on the artwork. Kathy Whitesellโ€™s watercolor classes will be Monday, May 11 at 12:30 PM and Friday, May 15 at 12:30 and 2:30 PM. Alexis St. John is offering two classes this month on Thursdays, May 7 and 21 at 1 PM to work on a special accordion book project which will take some extra time. Barb Mathis is back with her creative mixed media classes and lots of ideas on Friday, May 8 at 1 PM. Showtyme Presents our #1 country music singer, Carmine. Country music is compelling in many ways; it tells a story, it can touch your heart, itโ€™s fun and very relatable. There is something within the realm of country music for everyone. Thatโ€™s where an artist like Carmine comes in, his performance of the country artists are sung with passion and talent. The songs of legends such as Kenny Rogers, Glen Campbell, Hank Williams Jr., Randy Travis, Garth Brooks and Johnny Cash will fill the room with their music. PLAYERS GUILD โ€“ DARK IN MAY

Players Guild goes dark every May on the third Thursday because the AR is used by the Leisure Village governing board for โ€œCandidates Night.โ€ We will be back in the AR beginning in June, and will continue through to the holiday party in December.

BILLIARD CLUB

The April 8-ball tournament has ended and the victorious were awarded at the Tuesday, April 28 membership/awards meeting. They were Group 1 โ€“ 1st Gabriel Rock, 2nd Gary Bunch and 3rd Gaeton Lamoureax. For Group II โ€“ 1st Ross Radoff, 2nd Tom Norman and 3rd Sandy Davis. In Group III 1st Jan Bender, 2nd Jerry Price and 3rd Marylin Chavin. Congratulations to all the participants. There was a party around the fire pit on the back patio after play was complete. Drop by the Billiard room for the Wednesday morning or afternoon leagues and/or for the Thursday Night Round Robin or anytime you feel like it.
